Guaiazulene

A herbal ingredient extracted from chamomile that is effective in calming inflammation of damaged skin tissue as well as regenerating new skin cells. In Japanese clinical trials, Guaiazulene demonstrated positive effects in sunburns, eczema, and ulcerative skin disease. It is often used as the main raw ingredient in burn ointments.

Other ingredients to note

Glycerin is a liquid that is usually found in animal fat and vegetable oils. Glycerin is transparent in color, and it is odorless. Glycerin can improve the skin’s moisture level and can protect the skin from getting irritated. This ingredient can also help repair damaged skin and helps in maintaining smooth skin. A great ingredient for anti-aging and repairing damaged skin.

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter is fat that’s been extracted from shea tree nuts. It’s off-white or ivory-colored and has a creamy consistency that’s easy to spread on your skin. Most shea butter comes from shea trees in West Africa.

High concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins make shea butter an ideal cosmetic ingredient for softening skin. Shea butter also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Using shea butter on your body, especially your face, can condition, tone, and soothe your skin. This can also calm redness and swelling that appears on your face.

Sodium Hyaluronate is a polysaccharide that occurs naturally in the human body.  It works to support the body’s collagen production and help maintain skin’s elasticity. This natural molecule is specifically found in the hair, eyes, nerves, and in the lubricating liquid substance between the joints and tissues, Sodium Hyaluronate replaces the skin’s natural Hyaluronic Acid content, which diminishes with age and with exposure to various environmental factors that cause moisture loss.

It helps to increase a formulation’s stability and to reduce the probability of oxidization. It also enhances the skin’s absorption of other nourishing ingredients. Sodium Hyaluronate can also restore the skin’s moisture, promoting a more revitalized and youthful complexion. It smoothens the appearance of wrinkles and improves the skin’s texture.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil comes from the seeds of the jojoba plant. It has a delicate, nutty aroma. Technically, jojoba isn’t an oil, but a wax with powerful moisturizing properties. It’s thought to mimic sebum, the skin’s natural oil closely. Using jojoba oil may help reduce the skin’s oil production in acne-prone people by making the skin think it’s produced enough oil.

Jojoba oil contains natural forms of vitamin E. This vitamin works with your skin as an antioxidant. This means that jojoba oil can help your skin fight oxidative stress caused by everyday exposure to pollutants and other toxins. When you put jojoba oil on your skin, your skin is soothed and moisturized. This sends a signal to your hair and sweat follicles that your skin doesn’t need additional sebum for hydration. This keeps the skin from looking oily and helps prevent acne caused by clogged pores.

Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil or Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the Argan tree that is endemic to Morocco. Argan oil can greatly nourish and moisturize the skin and hair. It is also claimed to be able to neutralize collagen-damaging free radicals, help reduce scars and revitalize, and improve skin elasticity. It can also help acne-prone skin, but being a high oleic oil, you should be careful, especially if you are oily-acne prone skin.

Portulaca Oleracea Extract is a warm-climate, herbaceous succulent annual plant with a cosmopolitan distribution belonging to the Portulacaceae family. Portulaca oleracea is rich in antioxidants that fight free radicals that damage DNA and cause skin cell death. Free radicals contribute to aging by breaking the skin’s natural protective barrier. Antioxidants like vitamins A, B1, B2, and C in purslane extract neutralize free radicals and prevent the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract is a perennial herb that is cultivated for its health benefits and has been used by humans for over 2,000 years. Anthemis Nobilis has calming and anti-bacterial properties. It fights against inflammation of the skin, including redness of sunburns and minor scrapes and cuts.

Since it has antiseptic qualities, it is able to remove bacteria. Chamomile is often used to treat skin irritations, such as pimples or other acne problems, and reduces the swelling and redness that may occur from such conditions.

Ceramides are lipids that help form the skin’s barrier and help the skin retain moisture. Ceramides also help the skin protect against environmental aggressors like irritants and pollution. Without the proper ratio of ceramides, the skin’s barrier can become compromised, leading to dryness, itching, and irritation.
