Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner, Yay or Nay?

The Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner Review

Lately, the Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner has gained quite a lot of attention. I would still consider the brand as underrated, but it has a really amazing product line. Their Bubble Toners comes in 2 variants, Pure Cloud and Green Plum + AHA.

Among the 2 variants, I’m more intrigued with the Green Plum + AHA version so that’s what I picked and we will be reviewing it today. AHA is a really great ingredient, and really I’m looking forward to how it would perform on my skin.

About the Beauty Of Joseon Bubble Toner

Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner

I’ve heard a lot of great things about this toner, especially on how it is gentle to most sensitive skin types. Since this toner contains a low percentage of AHA, it really does not cause irritations and redness while efficiently providing moisture and benefits to the skin. It contains natural ingredients such as sugarcane, rice water, honey extract, and more.

Product Claims

Based on their official website, the Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner proudly claims as a fresh and exfoliating toner enriched with traditional Korean herbal medicine ingredients to achieve brighter skin. It boasts of its gentle exfoliation capability with a fusion of 25% freshly-picked green plum plus 3% Glycolic Acid (AHA).

Featured Ingredients

Since toners are used for removing the excess dirt and impurities left on your skin, restores your skin’s pH balance and prepares your skin for the absorption of the next product, most companies have included their own set of ingredients for better results.

The Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner features the following ingredients:

  • AHA

The Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) have seven types that are being used in the beauty industry. These are the malic acids from fruits, caproic hydroxy acid from royal jellies, glycolic acid from sugarcane, citric acid from citrus fruits, tartaric acid from grapes, hydrocephalic acid from animals, and lactic acid from other carbohydrates or lactose.

The AHAs typically serve as an active ingredient for exfoliation, which sheds your dead skin cells and allows the generation of the new skin cells in your body to give you a youthful look. With this, AHAs can remedy the problems that surround acne, wrinkles, and age spots. Moreover, they also promote proper blood flow due to their anti-inflammatory properties. The oxygen-rich red blood cells that go through your skin give it sufficient nutrients to improve the dull and pale complexions.

  • Green plum water

Additionally, the Green Plum water is derived from the Green Plum fruit itself. The fruit belongs in the same family of stone fruits such as apricots, peaches, and nectarines because of the seeds surrounding the fruit’s rock-like pits.

In contrast to the family, plums have several pink, purple, green, red, yellow, or orange, either large or small.

Though plums could supply nutrition by consumption alone, they also provide other benefits when incorporated as an ingredient in a skincare product. In fact, the Green Plum water treats your skin from sun damage.

It has 97.5 mg of Vitamin C and 0.2 mg of Vitamin E, which are considered antioxidants, that frees your skin from radicals and boost your skin’s cell growth to avoid the occurrence of the rough skin in your body. The Vitamin C of Green Plum water helps with hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline—the chemicals needed for the generation of collagens.

The collagens, in turn, become responsible for the texture of your skin. It can control the skin’s firmness, so you wouldn’t have to suffer from having lifeless and saggy skin.

  • Sugarcane extract

On the other hand, sugarcane extract is a substance that was derived from sugarcane. The extract could reverse the sun-damaged skin called photodamage. It usually occurs when an individual has prolonged exposure to sunlight, wherein ultraviolet radiation risks the person to skin cancer.

Using the contained phytonutrients from the sugarcane extract prevents the oxidative stress, inflammation, and breakdown of the extracellular matrix that could take place before cancer sets in. Similarly, certain flavonoids, vitamin E, beta-Carotene, lutein, carotenoids, and lycopene in the extract help rejuvenate the skin and eliminate the blemishes that appear on a person’s skin.

  • Portulaca oleracea extract

Meanwhile, the Portulaca oleracea extract is a green or golden-coloured plant that could soothe sensitive skin with its dopamine and L-methyl-adrenalin through shrinking the skin capillaries, thus, relieving redness.

Aside from that, the Portulaca oleracea extract’s properties also include glutathione, which is more effective than kojic acid and arbutin in addressing skin whitening.

  • Honey extract

The product also consists of a honey extract, an organic material that could serve as a natural moisturizer.

Honey extracts have a lot to offer, so it’s no wonder that the cosmetic industry has always made their products with this ingredient, especially since it has numerous skin benefits.

Suppose you’re someone who has a chronic skin condition like psoriasis, acne, and eczema. In that case, a honey extract could help you address the problem due to its contained healthy bacterias that would activate your immune system to heal blemishes and stop any skin redness or inflammations.

Apart from this, it could also speed up your skin’s healing process and possibly even fix a scar. But just like the Green Plum water, you could treat a honey extract as a natural exfoliator to peel off the retained dead skin cells.

  • Rice bran water

Unlike the other featured ingredients, rice bran water has a starchy look as leftover water from soaked rice. But according to Joana Marto, et al. in their 2018 study, the presence of 96% rice bran water in a cosmetic product helps with inducing their antioxidants to perform their anti-ageing properties on human skin.

Along with this, the chemicals in the rice bran water were also found in a 2016 study to be effective in deflecting the sun’s rays when partnered with other plant extracts.

So not only do you have a natural sunscreen, but you would also have a defence against the uneven melanin production caused by UV rays.

  • Panax ginseng root extract

However, the Panax ginseng root extract is taken from a ginseng plant. The oil production is balanced through the simulation of its antioxidant properties.

Additionally, it could also help when dealing with wrinkles as they usually boost the circulation of the blood vessels for the synthesis of collagen, which in the end, leaves you with firmer skin and a younger look.

  • Glycolic Acid

Finally, Glycolic acid is, as you know, a type of AHA and came from sugarcane. They are described to be odourless and colourless and act as an exfoliator.

The ingredient is best suited for products that aim to help the customers battle acne and experience the joy of having a youthful look.

Glycolic acid helps with acne because of its ability to unclog the blockages in the sebum and dead skin cells and even go beyond by decreasing the chances of the appearance of acne scars.

At the same time, it could serve as an elixir of youth by encouraging cell regeneration for softer skin and a fresh look through hydrating the penetrated epidermis layer of the skin.

Texture and Consistency

Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner

When you look at it in the bottle, it’s in a liquid form. But, when you pump the product out, it comes out as a soft bubble foam. Once you blend the product into your skin, you will notice how quickly it dissolves and seeps into the skin.

Fragrance

The Beauty of Joseon products claims that there is no artificial fragrance added to their ingredients list. True to their claims, their Bubble Toner does not have any scent at all. Perfect for people with sensitive skin and sensitive to smell.

Packaging

The bottle has a frosted, clear to green gradient on it. Looks very clean and elegant, in my opinion. The pump does function well. For $21, you get 150 ml of product! It’s already fairly priced for me. Sometimes online Korean Skincare retailers go on sale and sell them for $11-$15!

How I Apply Beauty Of Joseon Bubble Toner

The instructions on the box say to put 1-2 pumps onto a cotton pad, but I pump out once into my fingers and gently apply it to my face after cleansing. I can immediately feel the product dissolved as I massage it onto my skin.

My Take on Beauty Of Joseon Bubble Toner

This toner has changed the game! I absolutely love how fun it is to apply the bubble foam to my face. I personally think this bubble foam is more efficient and better compared to liquid form toners. It’s not messy at all, and I can really feel how moisturized my skin feels after I apply it.

It settles to my skin in seconds, and I like that it leaves a nice sheen to my face, giving me that glowy and dewy look. It feels lightweight, and it’s not sticky at all. You can apply it morning and night, even under makeup. I can exfoliate without any irritations, stings, and redness to my skin.

With the overall experience, $21 is such a steal! I absolutely love this Beauty of Joseon Bubble Toner! I would highly recommend this toner to those dry and sensitive skin types like me.
