I’m From Honey Serum, Yay Or Nay?

I’m From Honey Serum Review

Now, I’ve heard a lot of buzzes lately in I’m From’s Honey Serum and I was quite intrigued about it too. I have quite high expectations on this one since they’re claiming to have infused 7 natural ingredients for this serum. Which actually has quite a good reputation for the benefits it gives to the skin, especially honey. So, I tested it out, and here’s my review!

Product claims

According to I’m From, this serum contains 30.63% of Honey Glow Queen (Honey Complex), which is their 7 active ingredients of honey, black bee propolis, royal jelly, bee venom, turmeric, bee pollen, and cinnamon. Because of the Honey complex, it is rich in moisture to pamper distressed skin. With all the benefits of the Honey Complex, it claims to improve elasticity and fine lines, and have the brightening effect ability.

Highlighted Ingredients

Honey

Raw honey is jam-packed with beneficial components for people prone to acne, eczema, psoriasis, and other autoimmune skin conditions. By using honey to your skin, even the overgrowth of Candida can be managed. Raw honey is an excellent acne medicine since it can balance the bacteria on your skin.

If you want to get rid of dead skin cells naturally, honey is an effective exfoliator. Since it can exfoliate, you can expect a brightening and lightening effect also. It’s one natural way to get rid of acne scars and redness.

As an anti-acne product, manuka honey has been tested and substantially more potent than other standard products. Honey accelerates the healing stages of the skin cells and decreases inflammation, especially unpasteurized honey like manuka honey. In fact, manuka honey is widely used in most clinical settings for its healing properties.

Black bee propolis

Black bee propolis is a product of bee excretion from trees such as sap and resin. When they process it into their bodies, it becomes immunity-boosting. A component that is beneficial in making antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant products.

Propolis contains anti-ageing properties and thins out wrinkles. Antioxidants such as phenolic compounds and flavonoids are essential in neutralizing the negative effect of free radicals on the skin. Bee glue makes the skin lighter and cleaner. Eliminates symptoms of fatigue and stress while still keeping it hydrated. This is an excellent alternative for sensitive skin who cannot stand acids and retinol. It is a natural way of achieving a bright,acne-free, and youthful complexion.

Turmeric

Turmeric is curated from ginger, producing a vivid, yellow-orange spice. Even back from centuries ago, turmeric has been used in healing some health conditions and as a supplementary spice for cooking. Now, it has been incorporated into beauty and cosmetics because of its strong reputation in its healing abilities.

Turmeric contains antioxidants and components with anti-inflammatory effects. It can also help in reviving and regenerating your skin’s natural glow. By reducing inflammation and oxidation, the curcumin found in turmeric can help wounds heal. It also reduces the body’s reaction to cutaneous wounds, which helps your wounds heal faster. This is a natural way to help diminish redness in your skin due to rashes and acne breakouts. It can also help get rid of acne scarring.

Bee pollen

Young bees produce bee pollen. It is a ball of pollen mixed with pollen, honey, nectar, and saliva. They collect all these every time they land on a flower and then bring the balls back to the hive. Bee pollen has been proven an effective antifungal, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunostimulating agent, that contributes to speeding up the healing process of burns.

Bee venom

In skin care goods, the mechanism behind the use of bee venom is that it creates a fake signal to the skin like you were actually stung by a bee. Thus, there would be an increase in blood flow to that area, brings fresh oxygen and nutrients, and stimulates collagen and elastin production.

Skin collagen levels would increase while using bee venom, which results in firmer and younger-looking skin. Additionally, it can stimulate collagen production. It enables collagen synthesis so that new skin cells would grow to replace the dead skin cells. With the combination of these effects, you will notice the lines and wrinkles on your face would smoothen out.

Bee venom contains an active compound called melittin, a known compound that contributes to calming acne inflammation. It even reduces the appearance of new acne. Since it is an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory property, it can also reduce the dryness and itchiness of lesions for people prone to eczema. You don’t have to worry about dryness since it acts as a natural moisturizer or emollient for your skin.

Cinnamon

Yes, cinnamon isn’t only used for cooking and baking, but it has also evolved to be quite beneficial on beauty and skin care products. Cinnamon is perfect for acne-prone skin since it is jam-packed with antibacterial properties. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties that calm redness and lightens acne scars. It can also reduce signs of ageing, flatten out fine lines and wrinkles.

It is a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin from free radicals, maintaining that fresh, bright, and smooth skin complexion. Since cinnamon is one of the ingredients that ‘wakes up’ your blood vessels, so your blood flow would increase, resulting in plumper and even-toned skin. It also supplements other exfoliators since it can help remove dead skin cells while keeping your skin moisturized.

Royal jelly

Royal jelly is considered as one of the ingredients for the “foundation of youth.” It is an all in one product that contains antibiotics, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-ageing properties that brings a lot of benefits to the skin. These components are widely used in present cosmetic, skin care, and beauty products.

You will notice significant changes in your skin, like fine lines and wrinkles fading. Scars and wounds would heal and regenerate faster too. Overall, a great ingredient for sensitive, dry and acne-prone skin.

Notable ingredients

Glycerin

When you look at the ingredients list, Glycerin is first on the line. This means that I’m From Honey Serum contains an effective moisturizer. Glycerin is basically a humectant that allows the skin to store and maintain moisture to keep it hydrated throughout the day. It is a must-have ingredient for every skin type. Especially for people prone to dry patches, psoriasis, and eczema, Glycerin would help you relieve your skin by creating a moisture barrier to keep it moisturized.

Niacinamide

Everyone is going crazy for niacinamide. It is one of the topmost effective and popularly known ingredients of the skincare industry. Even most beauty gurus, dermatologists, and skincare enthusiasts have been raving and expressing their gratitude toward niacinamide for creating a miracle for their skin.

It is your most potent weapon against hyperpigmentation and ageing. Your skin’s oil production would be regulated and would help in minimizing the appearance of pores. It is considered a holy-grail ingredient to every Korean skin care who wants to achieve that fresh, glowing, clear skin.

Centella Asiatica Extract

Lately, Centella Asiatica has been a must-have for most skin care and beauty products too, not just secluded for internal intakes like tea and supplements. Originated from traditional medicine, it is a well-known herb for speeding up the healing process of wounds. At the same time, you will reap the benefits of anti-inflammation and anti-ageing effects on your skin. Since it enables faster regeneration and repair of your wounds and scars, plus it encourages keratin production, resulting in a brighter, clearer, and fairer skin complexion.

Citric Acid & Ascorbic Acid

Citric acids belong to the Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) family. It contributes to exfoliating your skin’s surface to make it a lot smoother and radiant. It works well in unclogging pores and removing whiteheads and blackheads. Just like niacinamide, it is also an effective ingredient for skin brightening, getting rid of dark spots and hyperpigmentation. It is another alternative if you want something natural and similar to niacinamide.

Ascorbic acid, or alternatively known as Vitamin C. Usually, you can see ascorbic acid incorporated in Alpha hydroxy acids because it proves efficient support in exfoliating and protecting the skin. It is also a jam-packed ingredient perfect to even your skin tone, promoting collagen production, skin brightening, hydrating, and giving additional sun protection to your skin.

Packaging

It was smaller than what I expected, but I guess it just means that you only need a little for this product. It comes in a glass bottle and a pump. You might have to be careful when travelling with this since it’s made out of glass.

I'm From Honey Serum

Formulation

The formulation was quite unusual compared to most serums. In terms of texture, it is really like silicone-y, almost silicone-like that melts once you let it settle on your skin. You can feel that it’s sort of on the greasy side, not recommended if you’re in a rush to put on makeup. But people with dry skin will absolutely feel moisturized with this one.

Scent

The I’m From Honey Serum has a mild honey-floral scent. Though I like scented skin care, personally, I’m not too fond of this. If you’re not so bothered with fragrances, it would be okay for you.

How I apply I’m From Honey Serum

I pumped a pea-sized amount on my finger, and then lightly massage it all over my face. It does take quite a while for the serum to be absorbed into the skin due to its thick texture. So much so that I couldn’t layer on the moisturizer after applying this serum because it is just –  rich! Once applied on the skin, you will notice the gloss that reflects under the lights.

My verdict on I’m From Honey Serum

Based on my experience with this product, I noticed that my skin is moisturised. My skin was very moist and hydrated. I only put on very little product on the oilier parts of my face so it wouldn’t feel greasy and uncomfortable.

Do I recommend it? I would recommend this for people with dry skin, who wanted to add hydration to their skin. It would also be perfect for adding a layer of it during the cold season since your skin is more likely to flake and have dry patches.

The downsides to this product, in my opinion, are its greasiness and scent. I would not recommend this for people that are sensitive to grease-like feel on the skin. Also, people with sensitive smell would probably avoid this serum. As this product dries up pretty slowly, I would recommend this to be used on days that you are just trying to pamper your skin with no make up on.

It’s an overall good product. But perhaps this is just too much too honey for me. Given the many choices of Korean serums in the market, I may be on the lookout for some other serums that will work the same. MORE INFO PLEASE
